An American Motorcycle Rally- Photography

My husband took me on a Sunday drive last weekend.

We weren’t expecting to join a motorcycle rally.

Sirens blared as we looked around with confusion, the ground vibrating before the first Harley came into view. Stopped at a signal while driving through a small town, we arrived smack at the same time as 100’s of cyclists.

At least.

Riding For Patriotism, up to 1,000 men and women drove down the main street. Many of them proudly rigging flags to their rides.

The power was intense, the sounds of engines and the quiet pride they exhibited. We waited at least 20 minutes for the last rider to get through the signal.

Have you ever seen a rally? There is a rider designated to pull to the side and stop traffic while his fellow travelers press on. As the end nears, he revs up and pulls out into the pack.

He gave the impression of a protector.

It reminded me of another guy I know.

He was a protector too. He still is.

My dad had a trike when I was very young, until a bad accident took him back to 4 wheels.

When I see these riders? I admire the people who dedicate their time riding in support of good causes.

My dad rode his way into my life when I was just about two years old.

A very good cause indeed.

    1. What kind of bike do you ride Susie? I haven’t been on a motorcycle in many years, but I have never forgotten the power and thrill. What a fun thing to do together

      1. I never ride alone, always sitting behind the Hubs. we ride a big black Yamaha Road Star 360. Love it! We are riding less this last year due to job changes and may be selling it. Sadly.

  3. You must be in central Indiana. I recognized College Corner School and some of the other scenes in this post as well. If you are in or near Madison County (Anderson), I invite you to come out on September 20, 2014 to the Kick Cancer’s Ass Benefit Ride. This is our fifth year doing it, and all proceeds go to two people in Madison County fighting cancer right now.
