Change your point of view with a simple little shift

Change your point of view with a simple little shift

Are you tired of the same view from where you stand? Your life? Circumstances?

Then I have great news! Turn around.

You know by now, I am a huge advocate for finding the beauty in the ordinary. Let’s talk about how to do that…

Imagine walking up a path.

shadows on a hike

The road is steep, the wind strong against your straining body, the sun blinds us to the beauty around us. Weariness sets in and the landscape feels harsh.

Imagine now walking up the same path, determined to find the beauty in it.

It still is steep, but muscles are flexed and healthy. The wind carries the scent of flowers and the sun is warm upon your face.

I try and walk the second path. Often, a detour is made after realizing path #1 was chosen incorrectly. That second path allows for a new point of view.

I always stop and try to see things differently.

In this top picture, peer through the circle. What do you see? Does something speak to your heart?

The expansive view, the structural tower, the city beneath the clouds, mountains looming, or even closer still perhaps the cross drew your eye in.

If you want to change your life change your perspective

Why is it important to change your perspective?

These things are of course visible without the circle, but stopping to look forces us to change our view by narrowing what we see.

Instead of seeing everything without clarity at once, our brain is able to appreciate the details.

Now, let’s turn around. Same circle, from the opposite point of view…

If you want to change your life change your perspective

When I peer in this direction, I see how far I have come.

The valley below me. The path already climbed. How high above the former cares of life. And the view is just fine…

Your turn- how can you stop today and reconsider a challenging area in your own life? What one small thing could turn around the current point of view to something positive?

  2. Determined to find beauty..that’s the key. We’re back to attitude, aren’t we? Stop to view the details rather than the expanse, appreciate it for what it is, not for what you want it to be. I love this.
