A beautiful homeschool graduation

My daughter started off in the world with some challenges.

Born 5 weeks premature, after two months of bed rest, she entered the world.

Despite a challenging beginning, she grew and flourished. She was a delight. She has been a delight for the last 18 years!

Today my little girl graduates high school. I am overcome with mixed emotions.

Gratitude, mostly.

Amazement that she has turned into such a beautiful, kind, and compassionate young woman.

Some say, “You did such a good job!”

While it is true we worked hard to homeschool her, raise her right, with sincere humility I can tell you that she is wonderful in spite of me, as much as because of anything I did right.

Parenting is tough work, yes?

Today we celebrate. Rejoicing and eagerly anticipating what her future holds.

But I’m a mom, let’s be honest- a part of me wants to hold on to her forever. Close to my heart.

It’s time though, to let her walk away. Near enough to catch her if she falls, far enough to let her lead the way.

I love you B, it is my joy and honor to have spent this journey with you.

May God bless you richly, as you embrace your adult life.

I love you.
