A short prayer for anxiety

short prayer for anxiety

I desire peace in my heart. Too often it gets crowded out and replaced with mental chaos.

I realize I am holding my breath as my mind races, desperate to work things “out”.

With a conscious effort to exhale, to try and slow the rapid heartbeats.

It doesn’t need to be like this, shouldn’t be like this.

Psalm 46:1–3- God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way, though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble at its swelling

How does this mental peace thief always sneak up on us anyway? Attempts to micromanage our worlds end up stealing from what is rightfully ours to keep.

Anxiety disagrees with harmony.

This morning as the sun rises I will humble myself before my God and ask him for help.

Short prayer for anxiety you can use immediately

Search me Lord, search me deeply and reveal to me the source of my anxious thoughts. Remove from me the desire to “fix” things and let me rest in your presence.

Remind me daily of your grace and help me remember you do not judge me harshly for my worries, but instead cover me with your love and understanding.

Calm my spirit Lord, Amen
