Get unstuck- taking inventory of our mental clutter

Get unstuck-

As we prepare to wave goodbye to Winter and welcome Spring, it is time to do some cleaning of our homes…our minds.

That is the tricky part, isn’t it?

We tend to store up mental clutter.

Consequently, useless or damaged pieces  get packed up with our happy memories.

It is time to take inventory and survey what we want to keep, and what we need to let go of! Perhaps you, like me, have experienced major changes this year.

What is the first step to getting unstuck?

My mind is settling down, but due to the changes (and my personality!) I still struggle to focus.

To choose what to do with my altered availability. To adapt to a new routine. To create a new life, here, while letting go of things that have passed…but still cherishing their beauty.

In the past six months, I have let go of some major things!  Here are a few that I especially miss:

  • Homeschooling (14 years)
  • Our children (newly empty nesting)
  • Home (we made a cross country move, bought and sold homes)
  • Our Midwest friends (that were so precious)
  • Time with my husband (he often travels for work)

Those are huge emotional ties and physical efforts to release. It has been hard, naturally, but life in our new world is coming along nicely. There are countless blessings here, particularly, being close to family we’ve missed very much.

The best part of taking a mental inventory is seeing what we have let go of,  that won’t be missed. Without a pause to consider the effects of the mental baggage tossed, it is too easy to miss the unencumbered reward of freedom!

How do I get motivated and unstuck?

Hasta La Vista Crapola! As a result, I’m celebrating the process of letting go.

These areas of life definitely are not suited to an Unstuck woman:

  • Idealistic dreams (life won’t be like we planned, and it can still be amazing)
  • FEAR (of change and letting go. Especially living without my kids near, the hardest part)
  • Fibromyalgia (Okay, I am being optimistic here. It isn’t gone, but  I am prepping to build up my best health)
