The voice of truth- who should we listen to?

The voice of truth- who should we listen to?

It is easy to listen to the loudest voice. The one that commands attention.

We lean in to hear the soft voice that is melodic to our ears. Curious.

What about the ones inside our heads, our hearts?

They too have significance, though we have to pay close attention to receive their wisdom.

Stamina speaks when we grow weary, encouraging us to press on.  Compassion speaks when we see need, asking us to stop and care. Confidence booms when our knees are shaky, reminding us that we are capable.

Those voices are truth, God’s own breath speaking power into our life.

There are others, disguising the voice of the liar. They whisper shame and doubt and mockery.

Even those are important. The more we learn to recognize them as false distractions, the more we understand that they tear down instead of build up.

Anything we hear that does that, we can discern as NOT being from God.  He never tears down, always lifts up.

His is the voice of love, the most compelling voice we’ll ever hear.

But the voice of truth tells me a different story
And the voice of truth says “Do not be afraid!”
And the voice of truth says “This is for My glory”
Out of all the voices calling out to me
I will choose to listen and believe the voice of truth– Casting Crowns
