tribute to my grandma

There is no treasure quite like a grandmother.

In my own life, my grandma has been a constant source of support and unconditional love.

As a little girl until I was fortunate to live close to her. We had special things we did, just us.

If I came to spend the night we’d drive to the Alpha Beta grocery store and pick up supplies for blueberry pudding and blueberry pancakes.

Blueberry pudding is really a cake with a warm lemon sauce poured on top. At nights when my grandparents were asleep, I ‘d sneak into the kitchen and carefully slice off just a little more.

And a little more.

Morning would come and a large portion would be missing. But she never punished me though clearly, the culprit was obvious.

“Grandma always made you feel she had been waiting to see just you all day and now the day was complete.” – Marcy DeMaree

Best interest at heart

As I faced the difficulties of life, I have always turned to her for guidance and understanding.

Even if I didn’t like what she had to say, I knew that she had my best interest at heart. And I trusted her.

My grandma just loved me, and she is still the same. Always my dear friend and confidante.

And now I see her with my own children. Walking and talking. A great grandma. Indeed.

My own mother became a grandmother 19 years ago.

A grandma is warm hugs and sweet memories. She remembers all of your accomplishments and forgets all of your mistakes.” – Barbara Cage

tribute to my grandma

She did special things with my girls and took them to the grocery store and bought them treats. Her heart belonged to my children from the day they were born.

She just loved them, and she is still the same.

What a gift to see this legacy of love passed on through a grandma’s heart and hands.

Nobody can do for little children what grandparents do. Grandparents sort of sprinkle stardust over the lives of little children.” – Alex Haley

When we are too big for laps

I look forward to being a grandmother myself someday, and I anticipate with joy the opportunity to love them as I have been loved.

My grandma and I are getting older. Of course, I no longer fit in her lap, but every time she hugs me? I am hers.

She still calls me Little One even as my own hair turns gray and wrinkles settle into my face. She is my treasure.

My grandmother always used to say, ‘If you know your past and you know where you have to go, why do you rehearse?’ I always remember this and it’s true. You have to start each day again—you can’t repeat what you did.” – Marian Seldes

Your turn-Have you been able to have a relationship like this with your own grandma? Or a special woman who has taken on that role? I’d love to hear your story in the comments.
